General Questions
What kind of beans do you use?
Arabica
How soon before shipping do you roast?
If we are mailing it, within a few days of the roast. That is only to let it degas a bit more while going up on an airplane if that is how it makes its way to you. If you are a porch pickup, your coffee was roasted within this week.
Why do the beans look different than the last time?
There is no such thing as an identical harvest. Different areas, different weather conditions, different washing processes, all of these things and more can affect the way they look, but trust us – they are all magic.
What is the best way to store coffee?
In the bag it came in. The bags we use contain a one-way valve to allow the beans to continue to degas.
How do I brew it?
Here at KC Roasters we are a big fan of the French press but you can cold brew, pour over, use the drip method, percolate, chemex, or any other way you like to brew it. Click here to learn how.
What does SHG/HG stand for?

Can I get a two pound bag?

Where else is your coffee sold?
Currently we are available at The Neighborhood Chef – Maryville’s local catering kitchen. Chef Willie keeps it in stock, available for purchase between 4-6 on Thursdays. Please just give us a heads up before you head that way, so we can make sure he is fully stocked in what your preference is! You can let us know if you want it ground, and if so, how you would like for it to be ground. In addition, when J Danforth opens downtown, you can pick it up there!
Porch pickup is available locally, as well as a once a week drop off in both Knoxville and Maryville. In addition, with a little notice, it can be picked up at Advanced Printing located on Old Knoxville Highway, next to Pellissippi Parkway and Food Lion, as well as at Sky City Entrepreneur Center, just let us know!
When do you roast your coffee?
We roast coffee on Tuesdays and Thursdays and ship on Wednesdays and Fridays.
What if I don’t like it?
We will work with you to hopefully replace it at our expense with another bean, or if you prefer, refund your money.
Do you offer dark dark dark coffee?
A big no to the oily dark; yes, to dark.
